DID YOU KNOW...?

“The church needed roof work and the mortgage was coming due. How the priest wondered,  could he raise enough money to cover these expenses?”   The  previous  year,  Father John Powers had helped  reduce the  mortgage on  St. Ann’s Parish  in  Cleveland Heights by holding a benefit concert at the Hippodrome Theater in  downtown  Cleveland…
Now he had to  come up with another exciting…event.”
from  The Cleveland Orchestra Story “Second to None” by Donald Rosenberg

If you continue to read chapter three of The Cleveland Orchestra Story: “Second To None” by Donald Rosenberg, you will learn that Father Powers and Saint Ann Church played an important role became major players in the birth of the Cleveland Orchestra. With his involvement and  support, Cleveland’s Symphony Orchestra gave its debut performance on December 11, 1918 as a benefit for Saint Ann Church at Gray's Armory.
So, in the tradition of our founding pastor, The Powers Concert Series has been born.  The first concert was December 12th, Angels In the Heights: A Celebration of Christmas.  The concerts feature an evening of glorious music under the direction of Maestro Domenico Boyagian.  Ticket price includes a the concert and a raffle at intermission, all prepared to make this a perfect Christmas evening. Please order your tickets today and help keep Communion of Saints Parish vibrant in prayer and song!
